Guadalajara, México – Páramo presents the exhibition Regreso a Casa by Fernando Sandoval.
From December 2024 to March 2025, Páramo Gallery opens its doors to Fernando Sandoval’s new exhibition, Regreso a Casa. This showcase brings together a selection of works that invite viewers to explore themes of the memory of the landscape, time, cycles, and the relationship between humanity and home.
With over 27 years of artistic experience, Sandoval is recognized as one of the leading contemporary figures in the Mexican cultural scene, celebrated for his ability to integrate painting, photography, design, music, and video into a singular and introspective visual language.
About the exhibition
Regreso a Casa proposes a dialogue between nature and transformation, utilizing works that combine hyperrealistic techniques with contemporary abstraction.
Through this blend of styles, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the connection between humanity and the environment, addressing diverse thematic perspectives.
Each piece connects the viewer with the cycles of life and transformation in nature. These compositions evoke a sense of introspection and slow contemplation. Introspective architecture is showcased through representations of houses located in Norway, Japan, Oaxaca, and Austin, TX. These wooden structures, surrounded by tranquil environments, symbolize isolation, introspection, and an intimate connection with nature. The pieces capture suspended moments that transform the landscape into a mental space, inviting pause and reflection.
Rather than traditional portraits, the figures are deconstructed into geometries and voids, blurring the boundaries between subject and landscape. This fragmented approach emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between the individual and their context, while suggesting a memory that is incomplete and ever- evolving.
About the artist
Fernando Sandoval’s work stands out for his ability to transform the everyday into art. Inspired by nature, travel, music, and personal experiences, the artist creates pieces that connect with the essence of life cycles and humanity’s relationship with its surroundings.
In the words of Aldo Arellano, “Fernando Sandoval does not merely interpret nature; he redefines it as a mental space where memories, emotions, and the constant transformation of the world we inhabit merge.”
Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 1972, Sandoval is a visual and multidisciplinary artist with over 30 solo exhibitions and 40 group shows in both Mexico and abroad. His career includes iconic projects such as the 2021 artistic intervention of the Astros de Jalisco stadium, his largest canvas to date.
